Product Review:
Electric Water Kettle Croma
I bought one Croma Water
Kettle, 1.0 L capacity from Croma Stores, Vikrampuri Secunderabad. It lasted
for about two years and then just went kaput. I will try to present an honest
fair review based on my experience. Plus points are: Elegant and attractive
design, pleasing white colour, smooth surface, easy to handle; becomes dirty
quickly but can be cleaned also easily. Because of ‘plastic’ body easy to
handle without getting burnt (compare steel kettles). It has water level
indicator Min 0.5 L , 0.75 L and Max 1.0L. Kettle Switches off automatically on
boiling. It is quick to heat. For small quantities of water, say required to
fill a coffee filter, water comes to boil by the time you prepare the filter
with coffee powder. Power consumption range: 1.85KWH to 2.25KWH.
On the Negative side: The Power cord is too short for any
normal kitchen (less than 2.5 ft). We had to engage an electrician to provide an
exclusive plug point nearby. The eject
mechanism to open the top is shear lousy – malfunctions, too rigid and gets
stuck often. No way to clean the insides. There is plastic filter for namesake.
Repairing is impossible as mechanics refuse to touch it. The flip switch at the
bottom is too ‘soft’ flimsy? – even if a lizard falls on it, it will get
activated, without water in the kettle! This is dangerous.
Verdict: When I am buying a new replacement for electric
kettle, I would not go for Croma.
