18th AISCCON National Conference
Meet this octogenarian Cyclist-Delegate from Sangli

Sri Govind Bhaskar Paranjape, 81, cycled all the way from Sangli to Secunderabad to participate in 18th AISCCON National Conference organized at Classic Gardens, Secunderabad on 29th& 30th November 2018.  He cycled some 650 KM via Kamalapur,Pandurangpur, Solapur, Naldurg, Humnabad and Sadashivpet  to reach Hyderabad. Started on 16th November reached Hyderabad  on 28th breaking journey for resting in a few places.

Though he learnt Cycling as a boy, took to serious, long distance travel on bicycle only after 58, after retirement from ITI. He has traveled by cycle from Sangli on long trips to Kanyakumar (thrice), Nepalm Gangotri, Lucknow, Indore, Goa, Bangalore, Tirupati etc.  He is a well known face in AISCCON National conferences as Aisccon members can easily recognize that many of these are places where Aisccon conferences were held in the past.

Besides cycling, his ‘hobby’ is to establish several senior citizens associations in Kohlapur and Sangli Districts. As we know Maharashtra is the heart of SCAs in India. There are 600 SCAs in Kohlapur, 425 in Sangli.  He takes pride in setting up SCAs headed by women – hundreds, we learn.

He has a wife, three sons (all married) and the count of grandchildren is six. He was felicitated during Hyderabad conference also. Take a look at him - the man in White dress - facing all of us with his bicycle and inescapable pride. Not to mention, he is going back to Sangli the same way came. Let us say  Three cheers to this hero.
