My Table Clock
Watch this thirty second video on my alarm clock. You should
notice that the seconds hand has stopped. Battery is dead. Clock has stopped. I
look at this time piece during nights more, than during the day time. Between
10 pm and 6 am, I wake up three or four times to pee. Prostate Problem. And at
that time, I invariably look at this clock to note the time: “How long more
need I to be in bed?” running at the back of my mind.
Last night I got up around 1 am. Looked at the table clock.
Something strange. It was showing only 11:45 – just one hour after falling
asleep? Worried, I went back to resume sleep. Second time I got up, I stared at
it, as it was still showing same time! Shit! The clock has stopped. Took a
torch, went to the hall and confirmed the time was 3:30 am from a larger clock
mounted on the wall.
I note the time when I wake up for another reason. Something
strange – theft, break-in, accident, transformer blast, stray dog biting a
stranger etc could happen,- there could be some un-decipherable noise /
sound etc – and the next day it could become the talk of the neighbourhood.
Noting the time to tell police or others will become handy.
Talking about this clock, I cannot hide my misgivings. I
bought a rectangular piece. Worst buy. You can never read the time easily. One
more buyer’s remorse. The next piece I plan buy (for my daughter) will have a
perfectly circular face / dial.
Talking of dials, if you care to do some Window Shopping online,
for wall clocks, you fill come across several interesting inspirational quotes
etched on the dial plates. Some I liked are given below:
Enjoy Life: One
Moment at a time
Live in the moment
You are his masterpiece
Trust God’s Timing
Happy Moments – Praise God
Difficult Moments –
Seek God
Quiet Moments –
Worship God
Painful Moments –
Trust God
Every Moment – Thank God
