Fwd: Clothelines
Clotheslines
From your terrace if you observe clotheslines in houses nearby, it
would be fascinating. Some have regular clotheslines with proper
posts, wires, clips etc well designed in a professional way. Many dry
their clothes just using the balcony railings. In some gated
communities, well planned clothes washing area provides ample drying
lines as well. However, most are some sort of makeshift arrangements
and are mere apologies for clotheslines.
The clothes hung over there are a rainbow mixture, airing themselves
with gay abandon, unmindful of the gender, age, style of the wearers
or owners. You may see regular, occasional, upper, lower, inner,
formal, informal clothing. You may see undergarments teasing you guess
whose they could be. BRAs and thongs may kindle the poet in you.
Mentally matching them with owners will be titillating, if not just
time-pass. Keen observation of clothes would give a clue about the
members of a household – children, men, women, adults, youngsters,
older people etc. You may even guess if they are middle class or
affluent! Or if some guests are being entertained.
Clotheslines in the terrace offer the proverbial pretext for young
girls to meet their lovers for a few moments of privacy. Romance
flourishes as semi-wet clothes flutter due to the kindness of winds.
The place also gives privacy for some villainous oldies / aunties to
hatch some activities harming their enemies!
My friend's wife told her husband, pointing her fingers to clothes put
for drying in the opposite flat: "Our neighbour does not know how to
wash clothes. They are always dirty, never fully clean." Next day she
exclaimed: Looks like she has heard my comments. See today how clean
their clothes are! The husband told her: "No, No, I have just cleaned
OUR window glass!"(Joke courtesy: RVR)
